The Dentist and the Toothfairy Exposed: Vernissage this Weekend, Sept. 6th

Wow, time flies! Another vernissage is upon us, and although it doesn't feel a bit like fall today, this is the beginning of our fall exhibition lineup. This show kicks it all off with a joint exhibition by Dorota Skrzypek and Jerome Prieur. The exhibit is a behind-the-scenes look at the unique partnering that led to the writing and artwork of The Dentist and The Toothfairy, and the various themes that inspired the book; love, obsession, inner turmoil, morality, and…teeth.

One constant we all share is a lifetime of dealing with our teeth. Whether it be cleaning them, getting them fixed, pulled, or whitened, watching them fall out, dreaming about them falling out, being taught the importance of keeping them healthy, experiencing the milestones that come with the loss (or addition) of them, or the ever important social mores around the appearance of our teeth.

This very personal exhibit will feature new artwork by Dorota and Jerome and a live interview with the artist’s for a documentary being filmed about The Dentist and The Toothfairy.
The artwork is being created, literally, from pieces of the book, as well as the many oral remains and personal stories about them being donated. These prized remains will be forever locked into art pieces made from pages of the book. New artwork will include sculptures, light fixtures, canvas collages and more; the full surprise to be unveiled in September.

Most importantly, this exhibit will include Jerome’s mother Aline, a talented artist who recently lost her husband (Jerome’s father). Usually behind the scenes helping Jerome with research for his paintings; she will now be in the spotlight helping make art out of teeth. We are proud to have her on board!
